Drukgyel Dzong

Drukgyel Dzong is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and a symbol of Bhutan's history and sovereignty.The history of this Dzong has it that it was built dated back in the 1646 by ShabdrungNgawang Namgyal to commemorate his victory over the Tibetan invaders. Drukgyel Dzong was a fortress and Buddhist monastery set against the Jomolhari mountain, the ruins of which are still visible from a distance. Despite its destruction by fire in 1951, the glory of Drukgyel Dzong endures.

Talking about its natural beauteousness, from the village situated beneath the Dzong, mesmerizing vistas of Mount. Chomolhari unfolds on clear days.
