Sikkim Tourism is set to implement a new entry fee for visitors, marking a significant step toward sustainable tourism in the Himalayan state. Starting March 2025, tourists visiting Sikkim will be required to pay a nominal fee of INR 50, which will contribute to the Tourism Sustainability Development (TSD) Fund. This initiative aims to enhance infrastructure, improve road connectivity, maintain cleanliness, and preserve Sikkim’s breathtaking natural beauty.
Under the Sikkim Registration of Tourist Trade Rules 2025, the fee will be applicable to all tourists except children below five years and those traveling for official government purposes. The charge will be collected at the time of hotel check-in and will cover stays of up to 30 days. If a tourist leaves and re-enters Sikkim after this period, the fee will be charged again.
